Thumbnail Embroidery

I bought some new embroidery designs and wanted to pick one out for a tee shirt. I started by doing test embroidery on some scrap muslin.

Never mind the wrinkles, this is the embroidery version of a thumbnail sketch. After I did the embroidery, I made notes on the fabric.

I worked out notes for four patterns.

Because of how heavy the stitches are in this one, I don’t think it’s suitable for a tee shirt. It would be great on a tote bag or a jacket.

I like this one, although I don’t think this is the one for the tee shirt I’m planning to embroider. I used a variegated thread where the white thread should be so I could see the circle around the design. I’m thinking I want to remove the moon although I’m not sure if that would cause a weird blank spot. I’ll have to do another thumbnail embroidery to be sure.

This is the one I will be using. I’m substituting some colors and thinking of skipping the little pink dots.
